ArtSpots Prints

ArtSpots offers a fine art Giclée printing service using the same process galleries and museums, such as the Boston Museum of Fine Art1, use. The prints use pigment ink on art papers, rated to last up to 100 years or more with color, and over 200 for black and white.2 Using color correction hardware in combination with an advanced printing engine, it is hard to distinguish our prints from the originals and are perfect for making a piece of digital art something special. A Giclée print is worth more and will earn more money than a standard reproduction print. You take your art seriously, so do we.

Papers

Technically the substrate (as it can include materials like canvas or silk) part of the Giclée process is to use fine art papers, not photo paper nor photographic reproduction processes. Choosing the right paper can notably enhance a piece or make it look more like the original, which increases the value of both open and limited editions. Here are the current papers that ArtSpots offers:

UltraSmooth Fine Art

A moderately stiff paper that is a fine fit for most prints. Very soft texture allows for even viewing across the entire surface. Great for originals done on illustration board or digitally.

Pricing

ArtSpots pricing works differently from both other online galleries and fine art printing services. We base pricing on a flat rate pricing scheme. What does this mean? No matter how much you add to the price of a print, you keep that amount.

Other gallery sites go by another method, sale price minus their base price, then take half. Sound confusing? Perhaps that is intentional, so the base price is low and it seems like you get more. But you can never get more than half the total sale price.

For this example we will call the other gallery dollarAbsorbers (DA for short). Here is how the two methods stack up:3

Printpricegraph

$40 USD is not uncommon for a fine art print. As you can see, the more you add with ArtSpots, the more you get!

Discounts

We give artists discounts on base price for larger orders, even combining several different types of prints. It is the total quantity that counts here. The discount rate is as follows:

Quantity Discount
1-5None
6-105%
11-2010%
21-4015%
40+20%

Email prints@artspots.com if you are interested in a bulk order.

Limited Editions and Special Orders

We are happy to do limited editions, big and small, including matting services. Email prints@artspots.com for limited edition orders.

Net Terms/Consignment Buying

Paid members start out with a $250 USD credit towards buying prints on consignment with additional net terms. This means you can buy up to $250 in prints and pay for them as you sell them until the net terms are up. Great for preparing before conventions without having to worry about the up-front costs. (Also, because of con schedules, we are pretty generous with net terms, up to half a year or more.) Email prints@artspots.com if you have any questions, or become a paid member today!

Size Tables

Finally, here are our pricing tables for various types of paper and sizes. We actually recommend artists price higher than the suggested prices.
